Neil Patrick Harris Says He’s Gay

Seems another actor has felt the pressure to reveal their sexual preference—and guess who has the “exclusive”? That’s right, folks, People magazine is always the go-to magazine to reveal your personal biz. Neil Patrick Harris told the mag that he was gay in an effort to establish his sexuality before the rumor mill took hold of it. Harris, 33, and the star of How I Met Your Mother, told People, “(I) am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest.” He also said that the announcement came because of “speculation and interest in my private life and relationships.” It still seems a shame that actors don’t have any private life these days, but such is the way of a celebrity, I suppose. Harris, of course, got his big break playing Doogie Howser, M.D.

How I Met Your Mother Barneyism Contest
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, Internet, News,
If you’re a fan of How I Met Your Mother, then this contest may be right up your alley. One of the things that has made HIMYM such a success are the lines that Neil Patrick Harris, as Barney, delivers. These are the lines that people regurgitate the next day at the office—and the writers just keep ‘em coming. I, for one, have never gotten in the groove of watching this show. It just doesn’t deliver enough laughs for me… but I certainly understand the appeal and think that Neil Patrick Harris does a great job of distancing himself from the Doogie Howser persona.
TV.com is running a contest for the best Barneyism, with the winning entry getting written into a script of How I Met Your Mother. Imagine your clever line being delivered on the show—instant fame! Hurry and get your entry in—the winner will be decided in December.

The New Adventures of Old Christine Given Full Season
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, Saturday Night Live, Ratings, Renewals,
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is sittin’ pretty now that her Emmy-winning show The New Adventures of Old Christine has been ordered for a full season. Originally, CBS ordered 13 episodes for the second season, but with ratings on the upswing, the order was increased to 22 episodes. Christine was a mid-season sitcom last year—and many wondered if Louis-Dreyfus could shake the “Seinfeld Curse.” The last episode averaged 13.6 million viewers, which was an increase from the average of the first season, at 12.5 million. While I’m not a regular watcher, I do stumble across it from time to time—Louis-Dreyfus does a great job; I’ve been a fan of hers since her Saturday Night Live days.
In other CBS news, The Class and How I Met Your Mother will swap time slots, with How I Met Your Mother now taking on the 8:00 slot and The Class moving to 8:30. The Class could apparently use the bump from the popular How I Met Your Mother as a lead-in.
